B/W photograph of the residence of Joseph Doty (J.D.) Oliver, 808 W. Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana. Soon after the residence was built it was renamed Copshaholm to reflect the town where James Oliver, J.D.'s father, immigrated from in Scotland. James Oliver was the founder of the Oliver Chilled Plow and the Oliver Chilled Plow/Oliver Farm Equipment Company. J.D. Oliver was his only son and they worked together building the Oliver company into a worldwide agricultural equipment manufacturer. The Oliver Mansion is currently owned by the Northern Indiana Historical Society. |
