B/W image scanned from a negative of an Oliver Model F Combine. This implement was pulled behind a tractor to cut and harvest wheat, soybeans, barley, etc... The combine in the photograph has the cutting head removed. This implement was pulled behind a tractor to cut and harvest wheat, soybeans, barley, etc... The combine does not run off the tractor's power (via a Power Take Off (PTO) shaft), the combine has its own 4 cylinder Hercules engine that provided operating power. This combine weighed 13,735 pounds. These combines were manufactured by the Nichols and Shepard Company that Oliver bought in the 1929 merger. The combine needed one person to run and operate the combine and another person to drive the tractor that pulled it. 1930 ca. |
