Description |
B/W digital image of a scanned negative of a cornfield close to Walnut and Sample Streets, South Bend, Indiana. The field is probably north of Sample Street and east of Walnut Street. The photograph is oriented looking northeast. In the distance St. Casimir Catholic Church and School and the rear of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works warehouse building are visible. On top of the warehouse building is the large lighted sign advertising the Oliver plow (that faced north). This cornfield may have belonged to James Oliver and may have been one of the fields that James allowed his employees to grow additional crops to supplement their home groceries.
