B/W image scanned from a negative of the interior of an Oliver Farm Equipment Company factory building in South Bend, Indiana. This photograph is showing a heat-treating oven used for the production of Oliver Raydex disposible plowshares. In 1940, the Oliver company invented a plow point (plowshare) that could be used and when worn down, it could be detached from the rest of the plow, thrown away, and a new. cheap replacement plow point (plowshare) could be quickly attached. This was what the Oliver company termed the "Raydex" plowshare. 1940 ca. |
